Program Against Drug-Resistant MRSA Infections |

MorphoSys AG
(FSE: MOR; Prime Standard Segment, TecDAX) announced
today a new proprietary development program against novel infectious
disease targets. As part of this initiative, MorphoSys has signed a
license and collaboration agreement with UK-based Absynth Biologics,
providing access to novel target molecules associated with
Staphylococcus aureus
infections including MRSA (methicillin-resistant
S. aureus).
MorphoSys will generate antibodies using its proprietary HuCAL
PLATINUM antibody library which Absynth will test in relevant
disease models. MorphoSys will be solely responsible for the
development and partnering of the resulting compounds. Absynth will
receive an upfront payment and is eligible for development-dependent
milestone payments and royalties. Further financial details were not
disclosed.

opened a new sales office at the Illinois Science
+Technology Park in Skokie. The office will be managed
by Mr. Troy Carpenter, who was appointed as President of
Vetter Pharma International USA Inc. The new office
replaces its Yardley, Pennsylvania sales office, founded
in 1983 as Vetter Pharma-Turm Inc. The establishment of
the new office in the Midwest region, considered an
emerging “hotspot” in biotechnology, is consistent with
the company’s stated objective for worldwide growth by
focusing on the emerging pharmaceutical and
biotechnology market in North America. The office, to be
officially known as Vetter Pharma International USA
Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Vetter
Pharma International GmbH, which
is responsible for Vetter’s sales and marketing as well
as customer service functions. In 2009, Vetter announced
the creation of its first U.S. manufacturing facility,
also located at the Illinois Science + Technology Park.
The facility – an expansion of Vetter Development
Service – is scheduled to be operational in the
beginning of the fourth quarter of 2010.

announced its financial results for the six months
ending June 30, 2010 according to
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Group revenues increased by 15 % to EUR 43.5 million
(H1 2009: EUR 37.9 million) and operating profit
increased by 26 % to EUR 8.3 million (H1 2009: EUR 6.6
million). Net profit amounted to EUR 5.9 million
(H1 2009: EUR 5.0 million), a gain of 18 % over the same
period of the previous year. As planned, MorphoSys
further increased its investment in proprietary research
and development to EUR 11.1 million (H1 2009: EUR 8.5
million). MorphoSys's cash position on June 30, 2010 was
EUR 152.1 million (December 31, 2009: EUR 135.1
million). The cash position at balance sheet date still
includes the outstanding up-front payment of approx.
EUR 10.5 million, which was paid to Xencor in early
July. The Company re-confirmed its full year guidance
for 2010.
