1 Marie Curie fellowship of 12 months (renewable up to a maximum of further
24 months) for a young skilled researcher in the sectors related to
Molecular electronics, Nanotechnologies and Surface Science.
The University of Catania, with the financial contribution of the European
Commission for the implementation of the European research project "THREADed
Molecular wIres as supramoLecularly engineered muLtifunctional Materials
(THREADMILL)" , within the Marie Curie Research Training Network of the VI
Framework Programme - contract n. MRTN-CT-2006-036040 – announces a
selection procedure, based on qualifications, for the attribution of an
employment contract (Marie Curie fellowship) of 12 months (renewable up to a
maximum of 24 months) with a young skilled researcher, for the execution of
the following research programme: "Processes of self-assembly of hybrid
metallic-supramolecular architectures and Methodologies for tuning the
properties of the single molecole in a supramolecular ensemble at surfaces".
The applicant must have an university degree – giving access, in his/her
country, to PhD studies - in Chemistry or Material Sciences or an equivalent
qualification.
In order to make a selection of the applications, other qualifications could
be considered as evaluation criterias:
Well established skills in surface techniques (XPS,
TOF-SIMs and Scanning Probe Microscophy);
Well established skills in techniques for
modification and handling of polymeric and molecular materials on micro and
nanoscale.
Applicants must be young researchers (early stage researchers):
with a university degree giving access to PhD
studies as defined in article 1,
who are in the first four years of their research
activity since gaining the university degree or the equivalent
qualification;
who have not yet obtained a PhD degree.
Applicants must be citizens of a member State of
European Union or a State of the European economic
Area or an Associated State and have not lived in Italy for more than twelve
months in the last three years.
Candidates from Third States are also admitted, within the limits foreseen
by the European Community rules.
Dealing with European funds allocated to international mobility, Italian
citizens are excluded, except those who have lived in a Third country for at
least four years during the last five years.
The research programme will be carried out at the Department of Chemical
Sciences of the University of Catania.
The contract will have a yearly gross amount of € 30.033,00 inclusive of all
the fiscal and social security taxes at the young researcher's charge – if
due, according to Italian fiscal law - and of all taxes at Catania
University's charge.
Moreover, the Marie Curie fellow will receive an additional contribution,
which includes all fiscal and social security deductions – even those at
Catania University's charge - if due, for the following items: travel
allowance, mobility allowance and career exploratory allowance, which will
be defined according to the geographical and the family situation as
foreseen by Annex III of the contract n. MRTN-CT-2006-036040.
The supervisor of the research project will be Prof. Giovanni Marletta.
The candidate must indicate in the application the following information:
personal datas, the citizenship, the possession of the academic
qualifications and of the knowledge required, and his/her address.
Moreover, the application for the vacancy must include a detailed curriculum
vitae, containing the indication of the owned academic qualifications, and a
copy of any qualification or document certifying the possession of the
eligibility requisites or that the applicant considers useful to present, as
well as any publication. One letter of recommendation by an expert in the
concerned scientific fields is also required.
Applications must be addressed to the Rector of University of Catania – c/o
Department of Chemical Sciences, Viale A. Doria, 6 - CAP. 95125 Catania –
Italy, and must arrive not later than 15 September 2008.
Only applications that arrive at the University of Catania - Department of
Chemical Sciences - by this deadline and provided with the required
